I remember it is not possible to use a git submodule for the templates. It seems to be a bit of a pain to maintain the generator for each version of INIT. Is there any better way you know of?

It really is a pain. I don't think to maintain this makes a lot of sense. Is the value the generator provides big enough to justify the work?

I don't think submodules would be a solution.

I think if you really need scaffolding and it is really useful I would suggest you just keep some templates in a templates folder with init and do scaffolding with grunt-textfile and some cli arguments....

Can’t we set up some drone.io or similar job via posthook to reflect the changes of the init repo in the generator? Just an idea without knowing if that could work.
