In past years I had two compromised user accounts. Some spammer used these accounts to send thousands of spam mails. In such situations I would have a rate limiting to slow down spammers and keep the impact low.

I know Exim has a built-in rate limiting feature but I don't know how to set up this correctly.

@ponchofiesta
How does it work for you in the past 5y?

Did u find something where u can count outgoing emails per user per period and be able
to read it external like mariadb?

I didn't have compromised accounts anymore. Maybe the rate limiting worked and noone noticed it :)

I have an other plan, to have 2 outbound MTA one is used for normal users
and the other one is used if the rate limit exceeds.
