Bug in rule “validation.html”: CSS: “background-color”: “Canvas” is not a “background-color” value. #1029

Yes, it is :) and this specification (CSS Color 4) literally defines that

In general, having a CSS validator which is not up to date with the CSS specification adds negative value.

The pubrules checker flags up a ton of this sort of error, all erroneous.

If I recall correctly, due to the huge volume of false-positive errors like this, I thought PLH and the webmasters had agreed that all CSS specifications would skip CSS validation. Although I question whether it helps for any other groups, frankly.

I think we can either add an exception, or file an issue in css-validator.

Or stop using the CSS validator, which does not correspond in a useful way with actual CSS specifications or implementations.
