Web extensions are not currently tested as part of WPT, although there are built on the web platform.
The Web Extensions Community Group has shown interest in using WPT to test extensions ( https://github.com/w3c/webextensions/blob/main/_minutes/2024-03-18-san-diego-meetup.md#:~:text=WPT , w3c/webdriver-bidi#778 (comment) ).
Integrating with the WebDriver protocol seems to be a step towards this goal: https://www.w3.org/2024/09/26-webdriver-minutes.html#t14 Chrome has an experimental prototype: https://chromedevtools.github.io/devtools-protocol/tot/Extensions/
