File management #627
Comments
Thank you for creating this Issue 🤝 There exists a setting to make double-click open a file 😎 (single-click only "selects" it). This issue is related to #484 - a discussion about moving files around the various folders. I'm open to adding this feature some day, but I'm currently focusing on server / remote functionality and face detection #574 I don't think I will implement an automatic-move-to-folder rule -- the UI (user interface) would be a serious headache and handling all the logic would be tricky. If moving files across folders is ever implemented, it will be easy-enough to sort by date and "select all" and drag manually. Thanks for the creating a Discussion topic; yours is the first one! I hope more people try this new feature of GitHub out 🤝 |
File management even without automation would be great and I dare to say almost essential. The library/hub approach like Lightroom is ok but even LR and others still let you access directories and move files around so it would be great and it would open much more uses for the app and the community. Thanks a lot Boris, btw Today I bought my 1st year with your app he he!! |
Ah just to specify, ofc if you fear misuse, this feature can be "hidden" in the prefs and disabled by default like you do for the delete function. |
Hi Boris,
This is a really great tool!
What I am really missing in it is to have possibility move files between folders within a hub and maybe to have possibility to move/copy files to another hub. Sort of file management features. For this I guess it will be good to have some select and multiselect features in the main view.. And make video files open by double click (maybe like in explorer).
And when I am thinking further it would be nice to define a automatic rule what is expected to be in a folder to move into the folder by a rule. Like setup a rule for folder "2021" to move all files that contains 2021 in the name into this folder. Ideally with some confirmation.
I hope my ideas are making sense.
Best
