Status report on the development of updated DAYCLI sequence (Issue 51)
- A small group meeting is scheduled on March 23 at 12 UTC.
- Denis Stauber presented on the development of DAYCLI so far and the feedback received from the broader community. Marijana Crepulja presented a BUFR template structure. Remaining issues to address: time period and quality.
- https://github.com/wmo-im/GRIB2/issues/80
- https://github.com/wmo-im/BUFR4/issues/62
- for GRIB, everything that is marked deprecated were operational at one point and we need to keep track of them. the terms with experimental were probably just legacy.
- historically, deprecated terms are still valid for older data, but will not be carried over to a new major version. the experimental terms, (at least for Hov..) were never validated in GRIB2, but they were operational in GRIB1. They were carried over to enable backwards compatibility. The intent was to have users inform the group if used in GRIB2.
- Regarding carry over to GRIB3, we should only migrate a minimum set and then add as needed. regarding the notes, they should also be machine-readable, but it's a big job. Maybe we only need a column to indicate deprecation (y/n) and operational is redundant. (EF)
- ACTION: let us know if your centres are using 'experimental' or if you have ideas about status management.
- the goal is to make these available as soon as the President of WMO endorses the FT2021-1 amendments (before June)
- https://github.com/wmo-im/BUFR4/issues/61 - Sybille will also test
- https://github.com/wmo-im/GRIB2/issues/75 - Sebastien tested the txt files, Daniel tested the XML files
-
https://github.com/wmo-im/CCT/issues/48 - Marijana C. and ask Eumetsat
- decoders are not using C06 for units. Only some of the CCT tables are used, but there are not templates for these files and you have to handle each CCT in a different way. Marijana is only using the CSV files, not the XML files.
The team will review following issues.
ACTION: all confirm the status of these issues and be ready to discuss at the next meeting as needed.
