  • FT2022-2 Comments on hydrological codes

    • Notation 165 (Groundwater) ... what's the point here?
    • Notation 171 (stream instead of river) ... makes sense
    • Notation 12249 (stream instead of liquid) ... makes sense
    • Notation 12250 (definition of Index velocity) -> Juan?
    • Notation 12256 (definition of Hydraulic conductivity) ... [...] porous medium (or fractured rock) [...]
    • Notation 12265 (definition of Groundwater flow) ... through instead of along makes sense
    • Notation 12267 (definition of Total dissolved solids) ... liter instead of litre -> Anna?
    • Notation 12268 (definition of Suspended sediment) -> Juan?

  • RRR workshop report (John Eyre)

  • Two main activities were discussed during the workshop. (1) review of the rolling review process and (2) The relationship between RRR and WIGOSMD vocabularies. They will have a recommendation for the short term issues by the end of this year. Longer term issues: How to get a consistent representation in the registry and OSCAR requirements and space for compound variable names, like "humidity over troposphere" (?). Also need to define procedures for interaction between the RRR and this team. If there is a new variable in RRRR then should check the registry to see if it exists or not. If it doesn't, then they can request it to be added. For now, John is the liason for this, but down the road, there should be PoCs for each application area who have access to GitHub for this purpose. Another issue is the requirement for retrieving the history of WMDS. (Joerg) Application area is also a code list, these changes should also be proposed to this team. (John) yes, this is one of the short term issues.
  • (Joerg) anyone can add an issue in GitHub (John) it might be better to wait until the PoCs for the application areas are more developed.
  • discussion on versioning and requirements for this
  • WMDR evolution (Joerg)
  • Joerg presented at the conference last week to all please take a look at slide 12 and 13 about WMDR2 model and decomposition of a "compound variable"
  • See presentation.
  • (John) the RRR should follow this and will invite them to comment on this too (Lara) met Simon Cox who was involved at the beginning of the I-Adopt framework, he said "it works until it breaks" and is not sure it applies to everything and to make sure we have in depth examples for different areas. (Gao) not sure this is doable for aerosol variables, because some are independent (?) (Joerg) we are becoming connected to this community and they are interested in testing and making it more robust
