Beta Testing

Getting Started

Thanks for willing to participate in the Beta. There are a few basic things you should do to be able to participate most effectively.

  1. Register for a Github Account if you don't already have one, this is required if you wish to report issues.
  2. Make sure to back up your settings before testing (see Stability section). Beta builds use the same preference location as the release version so do not attempt to use release/beta versions at the same time.

Issue Reporting

For an overview of what a good bug report looks like see filing a bug. As indicated on that page if you report the issue using crashfix there is no need to file a separate github issue.

Specifically related to beta testing you should be sure to do the following:

  1. Make sure to indicate the beta release number (such as '0.5f-beta1') in the bug report

Stability

Beta releases are expected to have some bugs. It's possibly that you could lose pricing information or otherwise end up with a corrupted database or settings. It's recommended that you back up your full acquisition folder before installing and testing the beta versions.

To locate and backup your acquisition preferences see this section.

Reverting to Release

If you need to revert to the last released version (and backed up your preferences) just do the following:

  1. Uninstall the beta
  2. Restore your preferences from your backup
  3. Install last release version
