Stephen Alexander Bennett

Graduate of Yale College, 1904

Stephen Alexander Bennett was born in Uniontown, Alabama in 1876 to Frederick Bennett, an architect, and Adaline Smith Bennett. He transferred to Yale from Talladega College in 1903 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1904. In 1906, he moved to New York and began working for the Afro-American Realty Company there. He became director of the company later that year. He left the company to study law at the New York Law School, and began working for the law office of Atkins, Collins and Toney. He continued his career as an attorney and lived much of his life in Yonkers, New York. He died in 1955.
