Born about 1887 in Jamaica, British West Indies, Winfred Ernest Garrick graduated from Mico University in Jamaica in 1909 and Lincoln University in 1919 before enrolling at Yale. Although few details of his life are known, he lived and worked as a minister and a theologian in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Ohio. As of the 1940 federal census, he was a naturalized citizen and living in Toledo, Ohio, with no immediate family. He did not appear in the 1950 census.
