Theodore E. Hill was born in 1879 in Williamston, North Carolina to Edward Hill and Rose Keyes Hill. He attended Phillips Andover before coming to Yale, and graduated with a bachelor's degree from Yale in 1904. He continued his education at the New York Law School, graduating in 1907. He began a career as an attorney in New York City, where he was also a member of the city’s Republican Club. He died a few years later, in 1910, from heart failure.
The Yale Class of 1904 class book indicates he was related to Frederick Douglass Bonner (Yale College class of 1901), but does not specify how they were related.
