Please describe the enhancement you have in mind and explain what the current shortcomings are?
Yeah that's what I was finding, if say I already made a variant for my model, then I want to publish a render or texture or whatever with the same variant I have to enter the variant name again. The variant I made for the model is tied to that family. It's not a major problem I was mainly trying to figure out if there was something I had missed but maybe that's a feature request for the future?
How would you imagine the implementation of the enhancemenent?

I'm not sure about what UX would be envisioned for this.
Potentially it could mean that if switching between product types it doesn't "reset" the variant name so you can re-use it directly. However, at the same time - each product type may provide different 'default' variants. So that doesn't seem right.
Which brings us back to, where/how would one define that you want to re-use the value for the other products?
