assistant quote selection vs CMD->

According to docs assistant: quote selection is supposed to be equivalent to CMD-> so when the assistant is open, you can send the selected portion of the text to the assistant. While the assistant: quote selection does trigger the right behaviour CMD-> does NOT. Instead, I get some sort of drop-down that offers some context-specific (?) actions, never actually pushing this text into the assistant's prompt

Am I misreading the docs? Are these two not equivalent?
