I'm adding support for the ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR V FORMULA-Z. So far I can get asus-ec-sensors to detect the board and report nonsense values (I just tried copying the board_info from one of the existing entries). Is there any known documentation for the register space of rd900 series ASUS ROG ECs? Various closed source Windows tools like HWiNFO do apparently support it, is the information under NDA?
All else fails I'm going to try to build ec-probe.exe from nbfc.

I'm not aware of any information on this topic, unfortunately. You can use the ec_sys kernel module and the hexdump utility instead of ec-probe.exe. The only hint I know about, is that all the temperature sensors use 0xd8 as the blank value. That you should see for OPT_TEMP when sensors are not connected.
You might also want to experiment in Windows with Libre Hardware Monitor (I tried to make its EC driver as close to this one as possible), so you can compare with ASUS tools or HWINFO.
