@lsatenstein can you please briefly explain what this will do before I am importing your settings? Will this allow me to drag and drop icons? |
Robert.
No, to your question.
TaskBar is not going to be changed because you want it be changed.
What I presented is how I use TaskBar.
Again
No changes to TaskBar, the Author does not intend to make them. It works just great as it is.Taskbar icons are the favourites bar, Ask Gnome to make the changes.

Leslie

I am not asking for change but wanted to open the conversation.
Posting a configuration file without further explanation makes it hard to understand your use.
How do you know? |
Robert,
Do you want changes? Then fork the software and do it yourself, or pay the author to make the changes.
I gave you a parameter file. Don't want to use it. Its fine. I use it.
I am very very appreciative of Zpydr's product, and what it does. You should really learn how it worksby reading the code, and by researching what it would take to change Gnome so that TaskBar
could implement your ideas.
My recommendation. Fork the software and do the changes yourself, and make them available to the Gnome community,.
Regards
Leslie

Let's not get into an ideological debate here. @zpydr is free to comment without you or me telling him what to do or not. |
oh wow. @orschiro Thank you. The drag & drop feature is quite complex to implement and I have been working on this for some time already. It is the next big task on my list... |
Feedback. With Gnome 3.26, 4 times out of 5 TaskBar is sociable with Gnome-shell. The fifth time, Gnome-shell goes into a tight loop. Either reboot, or from root killall -u username. It's not TB's fault, but the shell. If you are going to make a drag and drop feature, then presumeably you are going to dispense with the favourites (dash in ubuntu's jargon) bar. Reminder, when an item is dragged to the favourites bar, it also gets automatically added to TaskBar's display. And some extra infoI have been testing TB with Fedora 28 Beta and with SUSE's Tumbleweed both on 3.28 Gnome, and so far TB has a clean bill of health. |
