CLIxOER reponse to COVID-19

  • The Connected Open and Online Learning (COOL) is our response to COVID-19 through which we hope to reach out to teachers, teacher educators and students. If you are a teacher in a school or teacher educator or a student teacher in a Teacher Education Institute (B.Ed./M.Ed.) you will find useful resources for your class and for your own professional development. These resources are available in English and a few modern Indian languages. COOL initiative is seeded by Tata Trusts and supported by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Missions for teachers and teaching (PMMMNMTT).

  • New Features:

    • Two new tabs 'TISS-COOL' and 'COOL-OER' are added in the main sitewide nav bar.

    • In the TISS-COOL tab, list the initiatives taken under the COOL:

        1. Resources for Teacher Education

        • a. Edtech Weekly Podcast: Voices from the ground
        • b. Ground Assessment Study
        1. Multilingual Webinars for school teachers and students by ITE & CLIx

    • COOL-OER

      • Connect Open Online Learning - Open Educational Resources (COOL-OER) is a repository of curated OER.
      • The repository has following components:
        1. Two layer page design L1 - main page -> L2 - individual OER curations
          • Each OER curation appears as a card with some metatdata and three clickable buttons Preview, Explore Online and Share. These clickable actions will be captured in the database.
          • OER resources are organised within sections on the single page.
          • Translations of a resources will also appear as a distinct card but will have a relationship in the backend.
          • Inside OER detailed view page there will be,
          • metadata
          • description
          • hover effect for affordances
          • help material listing YouTube view preview and/or external URLs
            *Print button which triggers (Ctrl + P) action on browser window and help users save PDF copy of a page.
        2. Filter menu: to filter resources based on various parameters.
        3. Table of Content, which lists repository pages sections and on click scrolls to the specific section
        4. Slider
        5. Contact Us form to give feedback
        6. Distinct header and footer
      • OER curations can be submitted through a google form and then uploaded using a CSV file.
      • The repository main page and the individual OER pages are designed to be mobile responsive.
  • Change Requests (CRs) in existing CLIxOER components(only high priority CRs to be added):
    • Improve website font readability on desktop: after recent slider update sitewide readability has been affected - fonts are too small to read
      font-size: 12px;
      font-weight: 300;
    • Make copyright year © 2019-2020
    • Change e-library icon from eBook to Home icon because as in the breadcrumb is it home icon it is creating confusion.
    • In the tab E-Library

        • Download tool tip:
          AS IS: Play Offline
          TO BE: Download to play offline
        • Tool download overlay instructions need modification (to run interactives offline individually)
      • Module card
        • Help video icon is confusing with video call, replace with this icon
      • In Interactives the card flip sometime explore and download icons get hidden. Both desktop/mobile. Increase the spacing between cards.
      • Meta tags have been added for URLs to give preview when shared on social media.
