FAQs
Here are some frequently asked questions to help you understand the mod better, and prevent asking questions that have been answered many times before.
A: Yes. Please be aware that for multiplayer, Serene Seasons is required on both the server and client, and servers that do not have the mod installed will not work as intended.
A: For the most part no, but if you remove the mod, snow/ice in biomes that don't normally receive snow will not melt, as this is handled by Serene Seasons.
A: Serene Seasons automatically works with biome mods in most aspects, including changing colors, shifting temperatures, and so on. Biome mods may need to properly tag their tropical biomes so they use tropical seasons, although this can also be done with a user-made datapack.
A: You need to make sure both the server and all players' clients have the same exact config files, especially if you change how long sub-seasons last.
A: If you're using OptiFine, you must make sure the "Swamp Colors" option is enabled, or colors will not change with vanilla blocks. The Custom Colors option can also conflict when using a texture pack. Additionally, if you are using Quark, the Greener Grass option may conflict with Serene Seasons, and should be disabled.
A: No. Most vanilla trees (As well as trees added by other mods) are just straight lines made of logs, and they certainly wouldn't look good without leaves.
A: By default, any crops not listed in the seasonal crop block/item tags will always be fertile. Other crop mods have to add compatibility with our block/item tags, but user-made datapacks can also be used for mods that don't have support.
A: It does. However, it is not for changing the length of the day/night cycle. It's there for use in conjunction with other mods that change the length of the day/night cycle, as our seasonal cycle is independent from that, and has its own timer.
A: We have no plans to add this at the current time.
A: Support for crop mods must be added on the other mod's end, or through a user-made datapack.
A: No.
