SARAH relies on Windows Voice Synthetiser. Here is an article testing Voices with SARAH.

Installation

Window 8 provides a quality french female Voices.

To install other voices:

• Run Windows 32bit SAPI: %windir%\SysWOW64\speech\SpeechUX\sapi.cpl
• Select your voice

For JARVIS voices buy/find Sebastien from Nuance.

Disclaimer: Nuance is a Software editor selling voices. I contact them to add OEM mâle and female voices in SARAH. I don't know the price, and hope they could do good price for free, innovative projects. I still have no answers.

Troubleshouting

Compatibility

• KobaSpeech crash SARAH
• Loquendo is very expensive and very complicated to install

Override voices

• Default voice can be overrided in custom.ini.
• The first TTS list all availables voices in logs.
• To trigger a first TTS call http://127.0.0.1:8888/?tts=hello

Distortion

Sometimes the voice is scrambled. I assume it is caused by CPU usage...
