Project and graph info can go in the _config.yml, populated from the MANIFEST and from projects.yaml.
On OBOFoundry:

• the source data is https://github.com/OBOFoundry/OBOFoundry.github.io/blob/master/registry/ontologies.yml
• it gets appended to the jekyll _config.yml
• the variable for the ontology data is stored as site.ontologies, which is set in the full _config.yml itself - that is passed to anywhere site.ontologies is specified in a template
• it populates a table template: https://github.com/OBOFoundry/OBOFoundry.github.io/blob/master/_includes/ontology_table.html
