Pairwise runs into loops when the cleanup is not done in the FW step. This problem did not appear before as renormalisation was performed in the away step (which was a mistake, see #522), but is now giving rise to back and forth iterations because of residual weights. Note that
renorm_intervalis still useful in the lazy version.
