Hello spipau,¨ |
Hi @chkoruc I made this changes around 4 years ago and it was never merged/accepted by the main author. The rest of the project got last updated 10 years ago, so I would say the project is not active any more. I would need to look into the code as I don't remember any thing any more of the code base. I just built a small extension and not more. To give you an answer, I would need to know which constraints but also I currently don't have time to maintain such a project 😕 |
Dear Paul,
Thank you very much for getting back to me.
The reason I wrote to you is that I am trying to find a free Q sorter online, and I can know see that the good versions, for example the FlashQ that earlier was free have ended. I suspect the guys in this company https://qmethodsoftware.com/ have bought it all and the FlashQ page by Christian Hackert is also gone.
It is such a shame, because the system really presented a great platform to do q sorting.
I understand you do not have time for these sorts of things. But if I find a way through I will write to you.
Many thanks again,
Best,
Christian

I hope you still find a way to conduct your research and good luck! I guess this is once more a prime example of why there is no free software. Free as in free beer and not in as in freedom. Software always costs money and if you want to have free(dom) software, then you also have to pay. As you can see here in the license of this project, it was also created by a company because programmers need an income. I recommend you, if you find and pay for a tool, pay for a free and open source software tool and not closed one. |
Dear Paul,
Thanks again for taking time to respond.
I understand and I fully agree that to develop and maintain software is time consuming and takes effort, however, there are some things that could be made regular practice in transitions from scholarly academic outcomes to commercial products. I am not proficient in this matter to see the details and to know all details. I just think it is a shame that the tool went from free to charged 200 per month. Also I agree that programmers should get a pay for time invested.
I will look further into Q software, and I hope there is free open source options available still.
And many thanks,
Best,
Christian

I helped out a friend who was using this software and wrote a basic PHP script to save the data locally. Might be of interest for others as well. I'm not sure if all data is covered, but it seems to work for my friend.
