Adding curtains to a TINT‐based library
(2023-02-14 Forked from https://tango.info/wiki/User:Chrisjjj/Adding_curtains_to_a_TINT-based_library https://web.archive.org/web/20230214220916/https://tango.info/wiki/User:Chrisjjj/Adding_curtains_to_a_TINT-based_library )
A TINT-based library is a library of tracks stored using TINT-based filing https://tango.info/wiki/User:Chrisjjj/TINT-based_filing .
If you are using such a library for milonga DJing, you'll probably find it beneficial to include your curtains in this library. A procedure for doing this follows. It applies to MediaMonkey V4.1.3.1708 and hopefully subsequent versions.
This procedure assumes the audio file format of your library is WMA Lossless, and the curtain sources are in any common audio format such as WMA (plain or lossless), MP3, WAV etc. It is written for a library located on drive F: in folder TLIB -- substitute your library's drive and path.
This procedure assumes that you may want some curtains sectioned for playback.
1) Obtain a CASTIN (a standard identifier for a personal album) from Chris. This will be the TIN (universal album identifier code number) for your personal curtains album.
2) In the F: top level, create a folder TLIB importing. In this, create a folder curtains original and within it place your curtain track files. This will retain the originals for future possible resectioning.
3) In TLIB importing, create a new folder curtains sectioned and copy to it the files in curtains original. This will retain the sectioned versions for future possible reimporting.
4) For each track that you require in multiple sections, in curtains sectioned open the track in an audio editor, remove the audio from track start to each section start (retaining the audio to track end) and save in the same folder under the same name but suffixed with " #n" where n is the section number e.g. ABC - The Look Of Love #1.mp3 . Delete the original from this folder e.g. ABC - The Look Of Love #1.mp3 .
5) Drag folder curtains sectioned to the MediaMonkey player bar http://i.imgur.com/XLsRffz.png. This empties Now Playing and places your curtains within http://i.imgur.com/wybEdwX.png .
6) Enlarge Now Playing http://i.imgur.com/q8x6Uj2.png, enable the Filename column http://i.imgur.com/snkRLUH.png if not already enabled and click Filename (perhaps twice) to sort the tracks into ascending name and #n order http://i.imgur.com/FIjThUJ.png.
7) In Now Playing enable Title and Artist columns http://i.imgur.com/lUVd0eq.png. Correct any missing/incorrect title and/or artist http://i.imgur.com/gz0Cw4r.png (you may use F2, and CTRL+C http://i.imgur.com/F3wX7kI.png, and CTRL+V). Copy the #n suffix from Filename to Title http://i.imgur.com/hN3Wce9.png. In any group of curtains that you'll intermix like sections, prefix Title with a group name and " #n"http://i.imgur.com/JicENFZ.png
8) In Now Playing select all tracks http://i.imgur.com/nMJfxjM.png, Click Tools, Convert Format.... In the dialog box, make these four settings http://i.imgur.com/Fy5xxmT.png but in Destination F:\TLIB\02480002900001\1\ replace S:\TLIB accordingly, and replace 02480002900001 by your CASTIN. Click Settings and set Audoo codec to WMA Lossless http://i.imgur.com/czL5AUf.png. Click OK and wait for the progress bar at bottom to complete.
9) Search for your CASTIN http://i.imgur.com/0o7m7xF.png to show your curtains in the middle pane http://i.imgur.com/LY01Wnw.png
10) Scroll Track # and Path into view http://i.imgur.com/GZT6YTG.png, and for each track, copy the number from the end of Path to Track #, omitting leading zeros: http://i.imgur.com/jdJ2Uz0.png
11) Select all tracks http://i.imgur.com/UzthR3r.png, right-click, and click Properties.... Set the following five properties http://i.imgur.com/4WUmc6q.png substituting your name for Jane, and click OK.
Your curtains are now imported. When DJing or preparing a list, access them by searching for e.g. "Jane Curtains".
To add a second batch of curtains, use the same procedure but at 8) in Destination at \1\, replace 1 by 2 and at 11) in Disc # replace 1 by 2. For a third batch, replace by 3, and so on.
Your curtains now have robust (TINT-based) pathnames, so playlists to which you add them will always be able to find them in future. Any amendment you make to curtain Title, Artist etc. and audio will automatically take effect in the playlists that use the curtain. Do not delete any curtain file or replace a curtain in its file with a different curtain, since this would interfere with playlists that reference the curtain.
