About the User
It’s evaluation week, and Principal Skinner is preparing for his meeting with Teacher Krabappel. He logs into Canvas and navigates to the ‘teacher insights’ section.
In the list of teachers to choose from, he choose Ms. Krabappel and all the courses she teachers. He is then brought to a view of all the analytics regarding Ms. Krabappel. The analytics contain $content1, $content2, and $content3.
$content1 - page views
$content2 - intereactions
$content3 - last access on days
Additional content items could be: # of files uploaded, discussion posts, assignments on Course Calendar, grades entered, # of student participations, student last access avg., % of students with grades below 70%
He narrows down the timeframe to $selectionOfTimeOrCategory, because
$reason - to look at current 9 weeks grading period since this was expressed as an expectation for the teacher for this quarter
He sees the filtered down data, but also wants to see how the teacher compares to
$otherSetOfFilters. I am wondering if we could think stoplight here where there is color coding based upon mean data for the sub-account (building). If the value is in the 0-25% quartile, there is a red coloring of the value, 26%-50% yellow coloring, and 51% or higher (better than the mean for the subaccount or building) then the value is green. This idea came admittedly came from the AspireEdu product screenshot.
Another option, In the case of a bar or line graph, could we indicate with a line on the graph what the mean is for the subaccount? Sort of like a trend line, or the mean line in a box and whisker plot.
From the data, Principal Skinner can conclude that Krabappel is doing well in $subject1 and $subject3, but needs improvements in $subject2.
These would be courses, first period algebra, second period algebra, third period Geometry.
After seeing seeing this data and arriving to conclusions, Principal Skinner will now $doSomeAction.
Print out the graph to share with the teacher and set goals for next evaluation period.
