# Optimal finite-difference operators for arbitrarily sampled data # Geophysics (2020) # Erik Koene & Johan Robertsson # This source code has an SEG copyright in "disclaimer.txt" ## INFO The files in this folder show some MATLAB implementations of the Remez' multiple exchange algorithm that were made for the paper: "Optimal finite-difference operators for arbitrarily sampled data" ## PROVIDED FILES * FD_remez_1stag_{abso/relative/groupvel} obtain a symmetric FD operator at very high speed (used for Table 2 and Table 3), using the fact that a symmetric FD operator creates an error that is only real or imaginary (but not both), for which we may use the normal Remez algorithm rather than a complex extension of it. * FD_{tot,rel,gv}_version obtain an arbitrary FD operator, for arbitrary 'n' and arbitrarily sampled data. ## NON-NEW FILES * fdweights.m simply implements an algorithm to obtain the Taylor coefficients. * FD_hicks.m is our implements of Hicks' coefficients due to a Kaiser windowed sinc function. ## Reproduce figures & tables Figures can be recreated by running the associated figure*.m files. Tables can be recreated by running the associated table*.m files. The output that should be produced by table2.m and table3.m is attached as table2_r.txt and table3_r.txt as reference. ## Reproduce examples To reproduce the first example (uniform 1-D staggered grid) run: example_uniform_grid_1D.m To reproduce the second example (irregular 1-D grid) run: example_variable_grid_1D.m To reproduce the third example (2-D staggered source injection) run : example_seismic_injection.m
