This timeline is provided mainly to assist with story writing, to make sure that all the story lines are in harmony with each other. This is the history of the galaxy as it is known to the player in the year 3013; over the course of the game the player may discover that certain things they took for historical fact turn out to be untrue, and that the history books have left out key information about the forces at work behind other events...

If what you mean is manned landings, then I see no guarantee that we're going to land on "a series" of moons and asteroids ever. Most asteroids are too small to be useful, and most useful moons are well beyond Mars, which is even more useful for us. |

There was a problem hiding this comment. Choose a reason for hiding this commentThe reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more. A disease outbreak is probably pretty unlikely on Mars considering the amount of screening that astronauts have to go through, and the fact that there's not really an easy vector for transmission. For an outbreak to happen, people would either have to screw up really badly, or Mars would turn out to be uncolonizable, both of which I'd expect to be mentioned in the game data. |

Choose a reason for hiding this commentThe reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more. The invention of ramscoops is a pretty major point in space history; the ability to travel long distances without needing to return to inhabited space to refuel was a major factor in shaping subsequent space exploration. With that in mind, I do not think that section should be removed. There was a problem hiding this comment. Choose a reason for hiding this commentThe reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more. To add, if the issue is that the events are too close together, I don’t actually think that is an issue here. The invention of the ramscoop is the key event, and the fleet looking for Valhalla would only make sense once ramscoops were possible. I could see this being planned well in advance, with the fleet taking off once ramscoops make it feasible. |

That is marginal livability for humans, and moderate capability for plant growth after around 700 years. The new version here contradicts that by suggesting that humans are perfectly fine on the first colonizing attempt, whereas plants are only able to survive after at least the second try. Also, why should humans, being animals imported from Earth ourselves, not have the same difficulties as other animals in adapting to an unfamiliar environment? |

I like your tone here, but you've lost a couple of things: First, they didn't "obliterate any organized resistance" since they are defeated by the Deep's ships. Secondly, you should probably include the part about super soldiers, since that's pretty important to who the Alphas are in general. And, were the Alphas ever really defeated? * 3000: The galaxy is beginning to slip into decadence, with megacorporations like the Syndicate once again gaining power. The Republic has made several unpopular decisions, including expensive licenses that make it hard to make a start as an independent pilot, and interstellar trade tariffs that weigh most heavily on low-value commodities such as food and clothing. This, combined with the Parliament structure that gives almost no voice to sparsely populated worlds, has led to an increase of anti-Republic sentiment.

Well, thinking about it, this seems to say the whole Earth is being, so I think 2030 or later should be fine.

I would personally rather just not include anything this early on the timeline. I think it was a deliberate choice by MZ to leave the near future (from the present day) intentionally vague, and I think there are good reasons for doing so.
