Hi @gnikit, after some time I'm back to this, it looks like I have resolved the issues with the tests and should be able to merge once you review the code. Looking forward to get some input.
Edit: I have to edit this because the CI tests are failing on the pull request even though the workflow runs are fine. There is some issue with the github bot editing the branch but I can't figure how to fix this.
