Mock is part of the standard library of Python since 3.3. This library was a backport of the mock of newer Python. But the package is in a almost sleep state with little activity. It was also dropped from EPEL as unmaintained.
I wouldn't know why we still need it. We don't use any features of mock which are not yet present in the mock of Python 3.9?
