This is just a preliminary PR; wanted to make sure it works first (no tests yet), and was strapped for time. Didn't touch any of the main files regarding the v4 algorithm. Any comments are welcome.
Also did some fixes and updates along the way, so please let me know how you would like to structure the commits if you would like to add them.
