c4dpl-tristate-gui

This plugin adds a new custom GUI to the Cinema 4D User Interface. It is a traffic-light like interface for representing three states: Undefined, On and Off. This is very similar to the editor- and rendermodes of objects in the Cinema 4D Object Manager.

Example of the traffic-lights GUI

Installation

The binaries are not compatible between versions of Cinema and have to be rebuilt for each different release. At the current state of the repository, pre-built binaries are available for

  • R14: Mac + Windows
  • R15: Windows

Simply extract the contents of the ZIP file depending on the Cinema 4D version you use. Using the wrong binaries can lead to crashes and instability of the program!

Usage

The resource identifier for this custom GUI is TRISTATE. You can use the custom GUI on LONG (and soon for BOOL) datatypes.

CONTAINER Omyobject {
    NAME Omyobject;
    INCLUDE Obase;

    GROUP ID_OBJECTPROPERTIES {
        LONG MYOBJECT_TRISTATEPARAMETER { CUSTOMGUI TRISTATE; }
    }
}

The values this custom GUI can represent are MODE_UNDEF, MODE_ON and MODE_OFF which are defined in the Cinema 4D C++ SDK and in the Python4D module.

License

The source code is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public license (see the COPYING file).

Todo

  • Make an image for the multiple values state of the GUI (res/tristate-multiple.png)
  • Implement displaying boolean values by simply not displaying the "undefined" state of the traffic lights
