  • Description of Organization

  • Reason for PSL Inclusion

  • DNS verification via dig

  • Run Syntax Checker (make test)

  • Each domain listed in the PRIVATE section has and shall maintain at least two years remaining on registration.

Description of Organization

Organization Website: https://hostbip.com

'HostBip' is a 'PDNR' (Private Domain Name Registry), allowing 3rd parties to register domain names in a variety of domain name extensions/suffixes. This pull request adds or updates the entries for a number of domain extensions that we operate, and disclaims a number of domain names we are no longer operating registry services for.

Reason for PSL Inclusion

'HostBip' has an existing section in the 'Public Suffix List', and is updating the section to include additional domain extensions/suffixes in its portfolio.

This request is seeking to add these to the PSL so the individuals/institutions operating under these suffixes can gain access to services such as Let's Encrypt, Cloudflare and that other third party systems may better be able to identify the level at which the personal/private name has been registered.

DNS Verification via dig

dig +short TXT _psl.edu.scot
"https://github.com/publicsuffix/list/pull/1130"
dig +short TXT _psl.org.yt
"https://github.com/publicsuffix/list/pull/1130"

make test

I ran the test with make test.

Please ensure all other domains in the section are still registered and hold at least 2 years time before expiry.

Example: as a spot-check, the registry for ink returns that ng.ink is as no longer registered, so your pr should be removing it

A random spot-check showed that this domain is not currently registered. Perhaps it has expired, but regardless, section administrators are responsible to update things to remove stale entries.

Please revise this entire section to remove any names that are no longer registered

Thank you. The observations have been corrected.

Please confirm again that all names in this section have expiration dates beyond 2y from now, as this is a requirement. Not just the added names, but also the existing ones.

@dnsguru Please, ORX.BIZ AND LTD.NG ARE NOW >2Y, we have moved all other <1Y; FAIL to <2Y; CAUTION (BIZ.GL, FIRM.NG, GEN.NG, NGO.NG, SCH.SO).

Please, we will ensure, that all domains are >2Y at our next update.

@atanunu Do you still need these entries in the PSL? The organization’s website, https://hostbip.com, is malfunctioning and no longer appears to be a subdomain registry service. None of the listed domains have active subdomains based on SERP.

One of the domains, edu.scot, expired and seems to have been taken over by a different registrant. It is currently used for link spamming according to SERP. So, at least this one should be removed from the PSL.

If the project is no longer active, the domain has been deprecated, or it has expired and is no longer associated with an active project, it would be great if you could submit a PR to roll it back. This will help avoid leaving debris for PSL volunteers and future registrants to deal with.

@groundcat The project is still active and alive. We are doing some modification to our website, but our customers can access us via https://dash.hostbip.com.

We submitted a PR previously for the removal and addition of domain names for which EDU.SCOT was included, but was rejected and we took it to draft.

A few domain name exists, but due to spam we had to change policies which now require verification of COMPANIES who are registering as only registered business can now access the subdomain service.

In the coming days we will submit a new PR for the removal of some domains and addition of domain names, I am hoping we conclude with the registry for the premium .NG (BIZ.NG & PLC.NG) domains we intend to add.

Thanks and regards.

but was rejected and we took it to draft

I noticed the reason why PR #1656 was rejected was because the domains

  • biz.ng expires on 2024-11-17
  • plc.ng expires on 2024-11-15

Both have expiry dates less than two years from now. Before submitting a new PR, I would suggest renewing the domains to ensure the WHOIS data shows expiry dates later than two years from now. This indicates a long-term commitment to the project.

Okay, thank you!

We will correct that and update the PR so that the domains not in our control can be removed.

@groundcat we have created PR #2127 to make the necessary corrections.

Thanks for the time and patience you and the team put into this. We are grateful.
