Quality checks

Because of the working principle of disdrometers you will regularly see erroneous readings within the raw data. This extensions performs several quality checks to eliminate most of them.

The following checks are performed:

• Short period of precipitation check

  If the device reports a very short precipitation and no precipitation before and after, this is considered an erroneous reading and is discarded.

  Which period of time is considered "short" you can configure using the error_limit option.

• Short period of opposite readings check

  If there is one single reading of precipitation between readings of no precipitation this is considered erroneous and will be removed. The same applies for one single reading of no precipitation between readings of precipitation.

• Short period of different precipitation intensity level check

  To prevent sending lots of alternating weather codes, that differ in intensity level only, a short period of different intensity level between periods of the same intensity level are added together. The same applies for a short period of rain or drizzle between periods of rain-and-drizzle codes.

  The error_limit option again says what is considered "short".
