Welcome to the labels wiki!

Quick start:

Set your inventory to allow negative stock, or add a stock entry after creating these items.

  • You need one stock item in ERPNext named:

your-sales-item-label-7401168800670

This represents the "label" with barcode for your sales item.

  • You need your sales item in ERPNext, also a stock item:

"your-sales-item"

  • You need one BOM for your sales item where you list the amount of label items per sales item

Once you have created the items and submitted the BOM, add your sales item to one or many sales orders and submit them. Now we can create our labels.

Configure the label creation

  1. Create a new Production Plan.
  2. On the field Get Items From field, select Sales Order
  3. Below it will be a section: "Dates for Labels". Add the date to "Label Production Date" and "Label Expiration Date" (These dates will be printed on the labels if the option is chosen to do so)
  4. You may add filters such as date ranges, customers, or those with specific item codes for the Sales Orders.
  5. Click on Get Sales Orders. (or manually add them in the child table)
  6. Click on Get Items For Work Order This is the magic part, which will obtain all the items in the sales order and group the amounts to "produce" by item code. So if you have the same item once in each sales order, it will let you know that you need to "manufacture" 2 of them. It will also fetch the BOM for the sales Item. This is where the link to the code for the label comes from.
  7. You do not need to Submit the production order. Just save it if necessary.

Create the labels

  1. On the top right of the framework to the left of the primary and secondary action buttons, Menu button, you will see a PDF icon. Click on it and a dialog will pop up
  2. A dialog will pop up allowing you 4 options: 2.1 Sticker without date 2.2 Sticker with production (harvest) date only 2.3 Sticker with expiration date only 2.4 Sticker with both production AND expiration date.
  3. Click on "Generate Stickers"
  4. You will get a PDF file for download, which you can then print on your machine.

If you change the amount of items, the dates, etc. you may generate the stickers again.

Quick fixes

Print failures - fix from your computer's print dialog.

Sometimes the printer will fail to print a specific sticker. Let's say you have begun printing a set of 200 stickers, sticker PDF page 1 to 49 printed perfectly, but page 50 failed, and then you stop the print at 55. Basically you need to restart your print from page 50. You may issue this command from the print dialog by selecting the pages you need to print, including the starting page.

Urgent adjustments

In this example, you have already printed your labels, and they have been issued to the production room. At that instant a new order comes in for 10 each of five different items. In that case, you may MANUALLY modify the Production Plan, in the section "SELECT ITEMS TO MANUFACTURE" by adding or leaving only the 5 Item Codes for the items required, and modifying the Planned Qty in each to 10. Once set, save your Production Plan, and click on the PDF generation icon on the top right of the Framework window to generate another PDF. This allows you to very quickly print labels to give to production floor, so that you may finish entering the data for the sales orders in peace.
