This is described in this issue: yaml/pyyaml#601 where the solution seems to be to bump pyyaml to version 6.0.1

Doing this causes the error described here in the astropy install: astropy/astropy#13255 where the solution seems to be use astropy>=5.0.0

Forcing this and I'm currently getting dependency conflicts that look like this:

The conflict is caused by:
    The user requested pyyaml>=6.0.1
    astropy 5.0 depends on PyYAML>=3.13
    pysmurf 7.4.0 depends on pyyaml
    sotodlib 0.4.0+1578.gdc14cd8 depends on PyYAML
    docker-compose 1.29.2 depends on PyYAML<6 and >=3.10

I've been testing fixes in the fix-docs branch, but I can't find where the docker-compose version is set...

I've been testing fixes in the fix-docs branch, but I can't find where the docker-compose version is set...

It gets pulled in with pytest-docker-compose in socs/requirements/testing.txt. This is only needed for running the tests in the CI environment.

We could explicitly install that requirements file in the workflows and comment out this line:

-r requirements/testing.txt

That way readthedocs isn't installing that package. (That install is dictated by this file: https://github.com/simonsobs/socs/blob/main/.readthedocs.yaml)

And just to mention, I would like to move away from requiring docker for tests, which would also avoid this problem, but would take more effort to implement than the above.

See simonsobs/ocs#330.
