Password handling
Your password is the primary means of access your mnemonic
/ secret key
accounts within the app. If the password is compromised or lost, you risk losing access to your funds permanently.
Umami app does not support recovering or reseting the password.
- choose a strong unique password that you can remember
- avoid reusing it
- avoid sharing it with anyone
- keep your mnemonic phrases or secret keys stored securely in a separate place from your device
- remember or store derivation paths you've used to create your accounts
If you suspect that your password may have been compromised or leaked, it's imperative to change it as soon as you can to secure your accounts.
- Open the "Settings" page.
- Click on the "Change Password" menu item.
- Follow the instructions on your screen.
Important: When you change your password, backups created before the change are still encrypted with your old password. To protect your accounts, we recommend deleting old backups and creating new ones after updating your password. This ensures that all your backups are secured with your new password.
Unfortunately, if you forgot your password we cannot assist you to recover it.

accounts do not rely on Umami app password, so you can still use them within the Umami app. - Access to your
mnemonic
/secret key
accounts can be restored if you have access to your mnemonic phrases and secret keys.
- Remove all your accounts or completely offboard from Umami wallet from the "Settings" page.
- Add your
mnemonic
/secret key
accounts and set a new Umami app password. - Make sure you use the same derivation paths as before.

accounts related to restored accounts will be added automatically.
