🔭 Building Simple American Accent since 2018. Grown to 200k+ IG followers.
- I help Brazilians get an American accent, if they are already advanced in English.
- Upgrading from a service business to a tech-enabled service business.
- I'm building my own full stack web app and already using the MVP with clients.
- See my portfolio for a simplified public demo of the app.
👨🏻💻 Seeking a front-end web development job in parallel with my business. Already built an MVP full stack app for my business.
- Why?
- to build my skills further &
- to stabilize my income / take some financial pressure off my business.
- Ideally:
- Part-time (10-30 hrs/wk)
- Remote or hybrid in Chicago
- Focused more on JavaScript/React (and Express if needed)... and less on design/HTML/CSS
- Here's my portfolio, including a demo version of the app I'm using with my accent coaching clients in my business.
🔮 Goals...
Business-specific
- Client results:
- Develop reliable, rigorous accent measurement.
- Show statistically and personally significant improvements in clients' accents.
- Improve measurement of delivery success (accent improvement, testimonials, referrals, renewals; TTV, CHS, NPS, CRR, etc).
- Do better at all of these.
- Financial: 12 months in a row of minimum $10k USD monthly sales
Software-specific
- Near term: Become awesome at JavaScript/React/Express and use that in my business.
- Longer term: Learn more about AI, machine learning, data science, statistics, etc and use that in my business.
Life in general
- Much longer term: Go beyond just American accent for Brazilians... to somehow contribute more generally to speech, language, communication, consciousness, etc. TBD. (Let's solve a narrow problem first!)
- Run a marathon in under 4 hours. My first was around 7.5 hours.
⚡ Fun fact: Fluent and near-native ability in Portuguese and Spanish.
- I'm about 20 years deep into obsessing about sounding like a native speaker (or as close as I can get) in both of these.
- I'm a native speaker of American English with a so-called General American accent, but I'm pretty far from the norm when it comes to this obsession.
- I teach what I live, not just theory.
