Is there an existing issue for this?

  • I have searched the existing issues

Current Behavior:

When an assert is raised while publishing from Blender, the error popup appears behind the Publisher window (which is locked as frontmost window), so we cannot click on the popup's "Ok" button, even when using ALT-Tab to try to access the popup.

Expected Behavior:

The error popup should appear as the top window, not behind other windows.

Version

3.17.7-nightly.5

What platform you are running OpenPype on?

Windows

Steps To Reproduce:

Using the WindowsTray-->Ayon-->Publisher, publish an fbx file.
Select an asset and a Modeling task, and choose the "Model" publish type.
The publish works all right, no errors.

From inside Blender, use the menu Ayon-->Load
Then select the product you just published, and click on RightMouseButton-->Load FBX (fbx)

Blender and the Load gui will immediately froze, and you will not be able to move or minimize the Publish window anymore.

Using Alt-Tab, you will see there is a popup that cannot be raised to front (because the Load gui seems to always be the front-most, whatever you do), and so you cannot click on the popup's "Ok" button.
The Alt-tab only allows me to see a thumbnail of the text displayed on the pop : Error : No asset group found

Are there any labels you wish to add?

  • I have added the relevant labels to the bug report.

Relevant log output:

No response

Additional context:

This is on Windows 10.
I have tested on Blender 3.3 and Blender 4, same problem.

I'm pretty sure this issue has been reported a few times before for Blender. I think whether this can be closed is best tested to see if the reproducable does not occur anymore. At the time this was reported this particular user as far as I know wasn't the only one reporting it.

I have upgraded everything today :

  • Server 1.0.0-rc.6+202401151731
  • Addon openpype_3.18.4 (I used the Addon Market to update it)
  • Launcher 1.0.0

Then I tested with Blender 3.3.2, on Windows.
The bug is still the same : the popup appears behind other windows, and I can't bring it to front.

@iLLiCiTiT I guess its Qt related...can we do something about it? When some error pops up it would show on top instead? or its not that easy...?
