Physical features

This section describes all the physical features of OpenSAND

Table of content

Link characteristics

This section describes how the delay and attenuation are used in OpenSAND. This section computes if packets have to be dropped depending on their SNR.

Delay: this page describes how the delay can be configured in OpenSAND, and describes all the available models.

Attenuation: this page describes how the attenuation can be configured in OpenSAND, and describes all the available models.

Link budget: this pages describes how the SNR is computed, and how to determine if a packet is corrupted and cannot be decoded because of transmission errors.

Radio Ressources

This section describes how to configure a link.

Carriers and categories: this page describes how carriers are used in OpenSAND.

Spots: this page describes how spots are used in OpenSAND.

Link capacity: this page describes how the link capacity is computed in OpenSAND.

Fade Mitigation Techniques

This section describes how OpenSAND implements different Modulation and Coding schemes in order to adapt performances to different link conditions.

Modulation and coding: this page gives an overview of how OpenSAND works and introduces the available techniques.

ACM: Adaptive Coding and Modulation

VCM: Variable Coding and Modulation

CCM: Constant Coding and Modulation
