Installation on OSX

Datavyu for OSX can be downloaded from the Datavyu Website. Out of the box Datavyu for OSX will work with the Quicktime plugin to play video. Right now this is the recommended playback plugin, so you should be all set!

However, we also offer playback via VLC. Unfortunately, not just any very of VLC will work. After 2.0.1, the interface we use to communicate with VLC was updated and broke support. Until that is fixed, please install version 2.0.1 of VLC (available here). Once installed the VLC playback plugin will work for OSX.

We also have two different scripting plugins: a Ruby interface (with a nice API!) and an R interface, which lacks the API and the ability to save changes back to the Datavyu file. The Ruby interface is included without any extra steps, and is the far more mature interface. However, if you want to use the R interface you need to install the R OSX package from The R Language Website. Once that is installed Datavyu will be able to run R scripts (see the Scripting Manual for more information).
