Boot Errors

If you have secure boot enabled, and have installed an alternate Linux kernel via rhino-config switch-kernel [kernel], and then rhino-update, then you may receive an error when attempting to boot into your system with this kernel.

Since alternate kernels are not signed for secure boot, they will display that they have an invalid or "bad shim signature" - Many distributions do not support secure boot, including Rolling Rhino Remix. If you wish to utilize Rolling Rhino Remix, including any alternate kernels, it is recommended to disable secure boot or, boot with the provided Ubuntu generic kernel.

  • Please note that the Ubuntu generic kernel may be a few versions behind the Rolling Rhino Remix kernel, and is not the default Linux kernel for the Rolling Rhino Remix experience
