Publish Summary:

Publishing your work in Shotgun enables teams to share their latest files with each other through an organised and automated process.

Basic Config

The Basic Config is the default Shotgun integrations. There is no setup required to use the Basic config. When you want to Publish a file in Alias, select the "Shotgun" menu, "Publish". With the Publish dialog open, you will now see 2 publish options (officially called publish plugins). These options are standard across all Shotgun integrations. Please click on them to see more info.

If you have run the "Advanced Project Setup" or have a default2 config setup with "Pipeline Configurations", you will have more Publish options.

Publish to Shotgun

Publish to Shotgun creates a Published File entry in Shotgun with a reference to this file's current path on disc.

Publish Translations to Shotgun

Publish Translations to Shotgun by selecting a translation format you would also like to create a Published File for. These translated files will be linked in Shotgun with the original Alias file. The translation will use the current Alias settings for that format.

Alias - Advanced Publish Options

Publishing Locator Annotations

If you use Alias' Locator Annotation tool to create text notes on curves or surfaces, you can use the Shotgun publish plugin "Publish Annotations to Shotgun". Selecting this option will Publish your Alias file along with each Annotation added to Shotgun as a Note, and linked directly to the Published File. This makes it extremely easy to get all of your notes out of Alias and provide a to do list for the modeller to address. image Result in Shotgun: image

Publishing Variant Captures / Bookmarks

If you use Alias' Paint Tools to markup or annotate over your model, you can use the Shotgun publish plugin "Publish Variants to Shotgun". Selecting this option will Publish your Alias file along with each Variant capture (also known as bookmarks) and will publish the image to Shotgun as a Note. This makes it extremely easy to review models inside of Alias and capture all of your notes as individual items for the modelling team to address. image Result in Shotgun: image

If you do not see either the Annotations or Variants Publish Plugins, please verify your configuration here
