Developed in association with The Open University (UK) and funded by The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, OERWorldmap aims to provide a comprehensive directory of sources that will directly facilitate access to high quality OER, prepare the development of OER discovery systems and promote a deeper understanding of existing OER infrastructures.

The OER World Map is the place on the web where anyone involved in Open Education can share information, experiences and ideas related to their work. Anyone can contribute to the information on the World Map and anyone can access the information on the World Map.

OERWorldmap collects information about:

  • Publications (learning resource (OER), informal online articles, peer-reviewed journal articles, reports, project documents, interviews, books, presentations)
  • Organizations (schools, higher education institutions, training providers, funding bodies, research institutes, infrastructure providers, government agencies, private agencies, commercial enterprises, social enterprises or NGOs, grassroots initiatives, Special Interest Groups, communities of practice)
  • Persons (teachers, students, librarians, instructional designers, E-learning professionals, policy makers, scientists, OER advocates, consultants, developers, and others)
  • Services (repositories, referatories, authoring tools, learning platforms, Learning Management Systems, Information, reflections or tutorials, community platforms, content sources)
  • Policies (legislation, policy documents, strategy documents, calls for tender)
