We are a group of woman volunteers from Women Hack For Non Profits working with The Engine Room on the Matchbox Project. The particular project we work on aims to help raise awareness on the allocation of Petroleum Extraction Licenses in Namibia, thus helping identify trends and exposing a sector that is opaque and vulnerable to corruption.
Our project owner is Lesedi Bewlay (@lbewlay), who is currently based in Botswana working on The Matchbox Project.

The Namibia's Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) is an organisation with a mission to deliver independent, analytical, and critical research into social, political and economic issues that affect development in Namibia.
The goal of the IPPR project is to map trends in allocation of Petroleum Exploration Licences (PELS) in Namibia. By structuring and mapping data, details, trends and connections in this sector, IPPR will work to open up a system that is currently opaque and vulnerable to corruption. The project will develop a system that simplifies the process of turning oil and gas exploration data into usable formats and visualizations on the web. The data gathered will aid further research which will help the public better understand the trends and signs of corruption in the sector. We want to expose these information on a publicly available website.
