Configuring Max Level

First of all, this is NOT as easy you think it is!

The game is balanced around the default level, changing it will create many problems, especially if you set it much higher.

Now, if you think the problems and work is no big deal, here's what you'll have to deal with:

  1. Learn datapacks. They are a vanilla minecraft system that allows you to basically edit any .json in the game. Read tutorials about them. Understand that it's basically a .zip file you place in your world datapacks folder and that's kind of it.

  2. Change the max level in the game balance datapack of age of exile. Just open the mod .jar and find the game_balance.json. While you're in the game_balance.json, check the stat scalings. If you don't want items to have 100000 health at level 1000 then you might want to lower the stat scalings. You might also want to increase the amount of stat points players get per level, as after a certain level they'll run out of talents to pick.

  3. Now edit dimension config datapacks so mobs spawn at the higher levels.

  4. Test ingame by using /age_of_exile set level and giving yourself some basic gear and see if you can fight those super high level 5000 mobs or they one shot you. If they one shot you then that means you will need to tweak things better.

Tip: you might be fine with just lowering the experience gained if you just wanted to make leveling slower. That's done in configs.
