Traits have a number of possible configurations. Common among them is the dropdown for the type of trait as well as a description text area provided at the bottom of each trait type. In addition, if a trait restricted to a specific stock, this can be entered in the Restrictions
text input.
- Character Traits are the most basic kind of trait. They provide an optional description area but otherwise expose no other options.
-
Die Traits allow a number of areas of the character to be adjusted.
- Die Modifiers: Entering a comma separated list into the "Rolls Affected" input, users can specify a number of skills, stats, and attributes that can have the number of dice a player rolls adjusted. These will show up in the "Optional Dice Modifiers" area of a roll dialog with the name of the trait as their label.
- Obstacle Modifiers: Like die modifiers, entering a comma separated list of skills and stats to be affected will include whatever number is provided as an "Optional Obstacle Modifier" of a roll dialog when the specific test is attempted by an owning player.
- Added Reputation: When added to the character (but not when modified after the fact) traits that specify that they come with a reputation attached will have the secondary effect of creating a reputation and attaching it to whichever character the trait is added to.
- Added Affiliation: Similar to the reputation property except for affiliations.
-
Changes Apptitude: For traits that make skills easier or harder to learn. Options include mentioning specific skills by name (ie
Sorcery
), naming a class of skill (ieacademic
), specific stats (power
), or set of stats (power/agility
). As with die and ob modifiers, multiple things can be affected if they are entered with a comma separated list (iesocial, Sorcery
for modifying all social skill aptitude as well as Sorcery)
-
Call-on Traits: These traits allow for rerolling traitors on test to which they apply, and for breaking ties on those same test. Note the skills or stats the trait applies to (separating with a comma
,
if multiple rolls are affected)
