First ship, first jump
So you've downloaded Warp Drive! Well done! Now what? The world of the WarpDrive mod can be very confusing and intimidating, but this guide will help you get a grasp of the basics so you can move onwards to conquering the stars and start your journey through space.
Y'know what, I'm not even going to go there. A ship is a ship. Almost any block can be used, even LittleTiles and such. As long as it doesnt have anchor blocks (Creative, unbreakable or unsupported blocks) your ship will be a valid ship.
For starters, you'll need at least 1x Advanced Computer, 1x Ship Core and a decent power source.
Place the Ship Core so the its arrow points towards the front of your ship.
Place the computer right next to the Ship core, on any side.
In this example, the ship front is on the left of the picture: the front of your ship is always the direction of your Ship Core arrow.
Make sure to connect your Ship Core to some sort of power generation; no power, no movement.
Once you've completed these steps, well done! You've made your first flying ship! Let's move on to configuring it.
To start configuring your ship, enter the computer terminal attached. You should see a screen like this:
This is where you'll enter your Ship name, pick something appropriate. After you've chosen your name, the computer will boot into the main Control screen, here you'll see options to set your ship Dimensions, Name, and Movement parameters. There's also the Jump controls options, but we'll get to that later. The Ship Control screen should look something like this:
To jump your ship, first set the Ship Dimensions. Tap 'I' to access the Dimensions page, and enter the different distances from your ship core to the last block in the specified direction.
Hint: Sneak right-click the ship core to display the bounding box of your ship and adjust dimensions accordingly.
Next, set your Jump parameters. As this is likely your first jump, straight up should do nicely. Tap the 'M' key to access the Movement page. Follow the prompts to set motion along each axis, and the rotation of the Jump. Then, press N to save these parameters and Y to directly jump the ship.
Finally, to jump make sure you have enough power and then tap 'J'. The Pre-Jump diagnostics will run, before catapulting you on your first Jump into the great unknown!
