Hi,
From your experience, is there an optimal JVM configuration when running large MATSim scenarios? I know it depends on the hardware but there should exist some general rules.

Hi Davi, I don't think it depends so much on the hardware, but rather the scenario. Yes, it is true that beyond 8-12 processors (I cannot remember the exact number) you won't get much additional benefit, but the speed (and I guess then memory requirements) is much affected by the number of nodes in the network; number of links; and number of agents.
The guys with more computer science knowledge will be able to help in terms of an accurate estimation, for example, if your scenario is 1Gig on disk (uncompressed), how much RAM you will need... there I cannot help you.
My personal approach is more experimental (and brute force). For South African scenarios I rarely need more than 40Gb of RAM per run.
